Environmental education

Kitchen Garden Program

With the support of our Community Gardeners, all students participate in regular gardening lessons. The students learn to grow seasonal produce, and then harvest the product to use in cooking lessons.

The students at Plunkett Street Public School understand the important relationship between themselves and their environment. They learn the impact they have on the environment and the important role they play as global citizens in protecting the environment.

All students actively participate in environmental education sessions, that include caring for our chickens, maintaining our worm farm and growing fresh and seasonal produce in our vegetable gardens.

Students use the eggs from our chickens and vegetables from our gardens in cooking lessons that teach positive food habits through hands on learning.
